Mondays are terrible, but so are headaches. Whether you’re doing house chores, busying yourself with work, or studying for an exam, a headache can get in the way. Pain interferes with productivity. It can slow you down or prevent you from accomplishing tasks.
If you have headaches everyday, here are 10 foods you should avoid now.
1. Ice cream
Brain freeze! We often hear kids say it after gobbling up ice cream. It’s true you know. Cold foods like ice cream trigger headaches. It is estimated that one third of the population experience “brain freeze” or “head rushes” after eating ice cream. More than 90 percent of people with migraine say they are sensitive to ice cream. In these cases, the food isn’t the cause of the headache. Rather, it’s their cold temperature that should take the blame.
Eating ice cream usually results in a sharp, stabbing pain on the forehead. The headache starts anywhere between 25 and 60 seconds after eating cold food, and could last from a few seconds to several minutes. Headaches caused by cold food seem to be more common after rigorous exercise or exposure to heat. It also happens more often in people who eat their ice cream too quickly.
Apart from cold foods, you should also avoid drinking cold beverages when your body is over-heated – including water. Take the time to cool off and remember to consume them slowly. For most people, “brain freeze” usually lasts no more than a few minutes. But if you get headaches everyday, it would be best to avoid them completely.
