The packaging of microwave popcorn is just as problematic as the packaging of canned tomatoes. Studies show that the lining of the popcorn bag contains traces of perfluorooctanoic acid or PFOA. PFOA is linked to infertility. In lab testing, this chemical also caused testicular, pancreatic and liver cancer in animals.
Microwaving the popcorn releases the PFOA in the bag, making the chemical even more toxic. According to experts, instead of popping popcorn in the microwave, do it in an old-fashioned way, heat it on a skillet.
