Lamb meat is not only juicier than beef, it is less fatty and tender too! One of the best ways to enjoy lamb is to turn it into lamb burgers. In today’s post, we are giving you 3 lamb burger recipes to surprise the whole family with:
1. Classic Lamb Burger
You will need:
2 lbs. lean ground lamb
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 medium sized Spanish onion, diced
½ cup parsley, chopped.
In a clean mixing bowl, combine ground lamb with garlic powder, salt, pepper, onion, and fresh parsley. You can also add an egg to bind the ingredients together. Mix all the ingredients by hand for a minute or two then get a handful and turn it into a patty.
Place the patties on a broiler rack and broil the burgers 8 to 10 minutes on each side. Serve hot in a bun and enjoy!
2. Rosemary Lamb Burger
You will need:
2 garlic cloves, chopped
4 teaspoon finely chopped rosemary needles
1kg lean lamb mince
3 red onions, sliced
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoon olive oil
2 medium sized tomatoes, sliced
Using a mortar and pestle, crush garlic, rosemary, salt, and pepper into a thick paste. In a large bowl, mix the rosemary paste with the ground lamb by hand for a minute or two. Do not overwork the meat so it remains tender and juicy.
Get a dollop of the lamb meat and turn it into a patty. You can cook the patties using a grill or a barbeque. Cook the patties for 8 to 10 minutes, turning frequently for even char.
On a small bowl, mix balsamic vinegar with tomatoes, onions and olive oil then set aside. Split the Ciabatta rolls into two then lightly toast. Spread mayo on each side of the roll then add the burgers. Now add the balsamic onions and tomatoes and serve.
3. Lamb Burger with Feta Mint Sauce
½ cup finely chopped onion
¼ cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
8 ounces lean ground lamb
8 ounces 90% lean ground sirloin
4 whole-wheat hamburger buns
¼ cup plain fat-free Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons reduced-fat feta cheese, crumbled
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh mint
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup baby arugula
In a large bowl, combine the onions, parsley, garlic, lemon rind, kosher salt, pepper, and cumin together with the ground lamb and sirloin. Get a dollop and turn into a ½-inch thick patty. This recipe makes about 4 patties.
Heat the grill into medium heat then spray with cooking oil. Add the patty and grill each side for 4 minutes or until desired doneness. After grilling, place one patty on a bun and split the bun in the middle. Grill the burger until lightly roasted.
To make the sauce, combine yogurt with mint and juice in a small bowl. Whisk the ingredients and set aside. Place the burgers on a serving place, open each up and top with arugula and feta. Add a little of the yogurt sauce and serve!
