Got flaky, alligator skin? Sounds like your skin needs lots of TLC, stat! Dry skin usually occurs during extremely cold climate. The cold air sucks the moisture right out of the skin. But some people are prone to dry skin regardless of the climate. Poor diet, genetics, and aging are factors that could also contribute to dry skin. Unfortunately, hydrating creams and lotions can be expensive. When you want to hydrate the skin deeply without breaking the bank, consider these natural remedies for dry skin:
1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Extra virgin olive oil is loaded with healthy fats and antioxidants. The oil goes deep into the skin, soothing dry, irritated skin. It will banish flakiness, itchiness, and roughness. Extra virgin olive oil also delays the early signs of aging. It’s mild enough that you can slather it on the face too!
We recommend applying the oil on still-damp skin. After taking a shower, put a generous amount on the skin. Massage the skin with gentle, circular motion. Massaging helps the skin absorb the oil. You can also combine olive oil with a handful of sugar as a body scrub. The mixture will slough off dead skin cells, revealing the smoother, baby-soft skin underneath.

2. Full Cream Milk
Milk contains soothing compounds that relieve itchiness and dryness. It’s also packed with anti-inflammatory compounds to minimize irritation. The lactic acid in full cream milk melts dead skin cells. It also speeds up cell turnover for youthful-looking skin!
To use full cream milk to moisturize the skin, just soak a washcloth with cold milk. Apply the milk on dry skin and leave on for at least 5 minutes. Do this every night until the skin becomes softer, smoother.
3. Honey
Honey is a wonderful moisturizer. It’s rich in antioxidants and antimicrobial properties to hydrate and nourish the skin. Honey is also a humectant, it draw moisture into the skin then locks it. The result? Super smooth, soft as a baby’s bottom skin!
To use honey to hydrate the skin, apply all over the body before taking a bath. Leave it on for at least ten minutes then rinse with tepid water. Do this every day until the skin becomes smoother, less dry.
4. Yogurt
Just like milk, yogurt is an excellent moisturizer too! It contains anti-inflammatory compounds that soothe dry skin. It’s rich in healthy fats that plump up and nourish dry, rough skin! It also contains lactic acids that kill germs while eliminating dead skin cells.
To use yogurt as a moisturizer, apply on dry skin before taking a shower. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes before rinsing with tepid water. Do this once a day to refresh, recharge and reinvigorate the skin!
