The effects of free radicals could be neutralized by eating antioxidant-rich foods. Antioxidants are compounds that protect healthy cells from free radicals. Apart from using antioxidant-rich skin care products, eating foods rich in antioxidants also helps restore and rejuvenate aging skin. Almonds

Vitamin E comes in two forms: alpha-tocopherol and alpha-tocopherol acetate. Between the two, alpha-tocopherol acetate does not penetrate the skin as easily.

Tomatoes

This antioxidant refines the skin texture by boosting collagen production. It also minimizes DNA damage that leads to wrinkles. Lycopene also boosts the skin’s cell regeneration. Catechins also purify the skin and decrease sun damage. All types of tea contain catechins, but green tea contains the highest level of this antioxidant.

Grapes

Grapes contain resveratrol, a skin-friendly antioxidant. Several studies found that when resveratrol is topically applied on the skin, it protects against cutaneous damage by UVB rays. It also protects from any cell damage caused by UVB rays. Apart from grapes, red wine, certain nuts and some fruits contain resveratrol too.

Berries and Citrus Fruits

Berries and citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C is known to boost the immune system and protects from cardiovascular diseases. But this vitamin is also essential to restoring the skin’s youthful glow!

Applied topically, vitamin C sloughs off dead skin cells to reveal the smoother layer underneath. When absorbed through citrus fruits or supplements, it boosts the skin’s collagen level. It also reverses the signs of aging and preserves skin plumpness.
