Of course, if you’ve been relying on coffee to boost your energy for years, then quitting means feeling extra sluggish in the AM. You can replace the energy-boosting effect of coffee by eating foods that will keep your energy up. Keep several cinnamon candies handy and eat one whenever you feel sluggishness is taking over. Increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables that will help boost your energy and drink fruit smoothies for good measure. Berries; green, leafy vegetables; and fruits with high water content are ideal to keep the body energized. If all else fail to make sluggishness go away, turn to herbal coffee. Some people turn to coffee to suppress the appetite. When you quit drinking coffee, you will feel like food cravings have intensified. This is normal. But rather than caving in and stuffing your face with cakes and pastries, purge your pantry and replace all unhealthy snacks with healthy ones like celery sticks, cottage cheese, yogurt, pretzels, oats, and whole grains. When the blood sugar level dips, you get cravings. These snacks will help stabilize your blood sugar level and make you feel fuller for longer.
