The cotton fibers could accumulate in the colon and cause blockage.
The Tapeworm Diet
Just pop a pill containing hundreds of live worm eggs and you shed weight gradually. At least, that’s the idea. This diet program uses parasitic worms to lose weight. It’s popular because it allows dieters to eat what they want without gaining weight. But long-term effects of this diet includes organ damage, blockage of the digestive tract and even death. With a gut full of worms, it’s not the prettiest way to go.
The Fork Diet
The tamest of all diet fads in this list. The idea behind the fork diet is simple: eat anything that can be served and eaten with a fork. This diet eliminates fattening and unhealthy foods including meats, pastries, etc.
The Air Diet
As the name implies, you eat nothing but air! It’s revolutionary. This program is similar to pretend eating kids play. Each time a plate of food is served, dieters will pretend to eat it. Some swears by this technique. They allegedly felt full just by pretending to eat.
Five Bite Diet
The five bite diet is all about extreme portion control. If anything, this program will test your willpower to its limits. All you do is take five bites of any food you want three times per day. There are no restrictions as far as food choices go. As long as you don’t cheat, you will lose a massive amount of weight from the five bite diet.
Insects are incredibly rich in protein and fiber. Protein and fiber assist in faster weight loss. The idea is to eat bugs to lose weight. You cannot eat anything else. Those who tried this diet swear by it.
The Sleeping Beauty Diet
The Sleeping Beauty Diet is another controversial but lesser known diet fad. Essentially, you have to sleep for 24 hours 7 days a week so you don’t eat. You can take sleeping pills to induce sleeping. The danger of this technique isn’t just the lack of nutrition. There’s a real danger of overdosing on sleeping pills in this diet program. You might not wake up at all.
