The 8-Hour Diet is based on the book of “The 8-Hour Diet: Watch the Pounds Disappear Without Watching What You Eat!” by David Zinczenko and Peter Moore.
According to the authors of the book, the body works at its best through longer periods of fasting and shorter period of eating. The basic principle of the 8-Hour Diet is to give the body an 8-hour period to reset itself. During this period, the body will process nutrients, flush out toxins, and lose excess weight.
Modern living made round-the-clock eating or “grazing” the norm. When we graze, we are not giving the body the chance to burn off the calories we just ingested. Simply put, the 8-Hour Diet aims to “extend the period between your last snack and your ‘breakfast,’ giving your body the chance to burn away your fat stores for the energy it needs. And burn them it does.”
You have 8 hours to eat and 16 hours to fast. You will follow a diet plan that you can customize accordingly. What’s great about this diet program is that it will work on any schedule and any lifestyle. You don’t starve yourself; you have the chance to consume your daily calories at certain times so you don’t feel deprived at all. Best of all, this diet will help cleanse the system and assist in burning off more fat.

The 8-Hour Diet Rules
Rule 1: Do not consume any calories outside the 8 hour period to maximize ketosis. You can drink tea or coffee but no solid food. You can choose your diet schedule accordingly. For example, if you want to eat from 7AM to 3PM, then you’re free to eat. Choose the time that works the best for you.
Rule 2: The 8-Hour Diet focuses on the window of time for eating and how you eat. Certain types of food could help assist the body in losing weight. By adding these foods to your diet, you increase the chances of losing more weight. This diet has no forbidden food but that doesn’t mean you will spend 8 hours stuffing your face with fast food! The key is consuming reasonable amounts of food.
Rule 3: Do simple exercises for at least 8 minutes before breakfast to supercharge your weight loss result. You can choose any kind of exercise; from walking to lunges — it’s all up to you!
Rule 4: Drinking a lot of water is a must when you’re fasting for 16 hours. Make sure to keep the body hydrated by drinking more than 8 glasses of water. This will also help flush out toxin buildup in the body.
Power Foods to Eat
The kind of power food you eat when adopting the 8-Hour Diet will depend on what you hope to achieve from this diet. Do you want to lose excess weight or simply want to improve your health?
If you want to lose weight, the recommended power foods to take include lean proteins, eggs, and poultry. Walnuts and other types of nuts—as well as dairy products and legumes—are also great for burning fat.
If you’re taking this diet for better health, then increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables. Berries, apples, and fruits are great. So are dark green, leafy vegetables and whole grains.
