Oatmeal is such a versatile beauty ingredient. It helps soothe breakouts, exfoliate skin, and restore suppleness! Oats are also packed with amino acids that promote healing while soothing itchy skin! That’s why every major beauty company has a line dedicated to this nifty grain. But to save cash, we are sharing different types of oatmeal-based body scrubs you can whip up at home:
For Parched Skin
You will need:
1 cup ground oats
4 teaspoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons fresh aloe vera gel
2 teaspoon lemon juice
Instruction
In a clean bowl, mix all the ingredients together to create a smooth paste. Set aside until you take a bath. On slightly damp skin, apply the paste and scrub away in gentle circular strokes. Leave the body scrub on for five minutes before rinsing with tepid water. Follow up with a nourishing gel lotion for smooth, hydrated skin!
For Dull, Uneven Skin Tone
You will need
1 fresh grapefruit, halved
2 cups ground oatmeal
1 small cup plain yogurt
Instruction

Start by squeezing as much juice as you can from the halved grape juice. Using a spoon, get the pulp and add it to the mix too. Now add the ground oatmeal to create a loose paste. Finally, bind all the ingredients together by adding the plain yogurt.
Apply a dollop all over the body, concentrating on uneven spots like the knees and elbows. Rinse off with lukewarm water then end the treatment with a splash of cold water. Follow up with your favorite lotion after patting the skin dry.
For Acne-Prone Skin
You will need:
1 cup ground oatmeal
5 teaspoons baking soda
Instruction
In a mixing bowl, mix the baking soda with the powdered oatmeal and add enough water to create a loose paste. You can adjust the ingredients if you need more of the scrub. On damp skin, apply the body scrub in gentle circular stroke. The baking soda will purge the pores of toxins while the oatmeal will soothe irritation and soften the skin.
For Rough, Stressed Skin
You will need:
1 peeled cucumber
6 tablespoons plain yogurt
1 cup ground oatmeal
3 teaspoon jojoba oil
2 teaspoon sweet almond oil
Instruction
Using a blender or a food processor, add the cucumber until it is almost liquefied. Then, mix in the rest of the ingredients and blend to create a loose paste. Set aside.
Once you step in the shower, apply a dollop of the body scrub on slightly damp skin. Scrub the skin using gentle, circular motions to buff out roughness and calm irritation. Rinse off the scrub with alternately cold and warm water. End the treatment with cold water then pat the skin dry.
For Dry, Sensitive Skin
You will need
1 cup oatmeal
1 tablespoon roughly ground almonds
1 ripe avocado, peeled
Instruction
In a mixing bowl, mix the ground almonds with the oatmeal and set aside. Mash the peeled avocado into a pulp and wrap the mashed fruit using a muslin cloth. Dip the avocado-wrapped muslin cloth on the almond and oatmeal mixture and rub it all over the face and body. Rinse yourself off with alternately cold and warm water, ending with cold water. Pat the skin dry and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
