Get Rid of Panda Eyes with These Natural Remedies

Nothing ages the skin quite like dark under eyes. Panda eyes can make you look tired, puffy, or generally unhealthy. Dark under eyes is often caused by lack of sleep, stress, seasonal allergies and an unhealthy diet. Some people are also more likely to develop eye bags. Dark under eyes is not a serious health problem. But if you want to ditch the tired look and look totally rested, we’ve compiled effective yet natural ways to banish panda eyes forever:

Drink Up!

One of the most common causes of eye bags is bloating. Bloating is caused by high concentration of salt in the body. This is the reason why your eyes tend to be puffy in the morning after a salty meal the night before.

Drinking plenty of water helps flush out excess sodium in the system that causes water retention. You want to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily to keep the eyes bag-free. It helps if you cut back on caffeinated drinks as well as alcoholic beverages.

Tea Bags

Tea is naturally rich in tannins that nourish the skin and keep it looking fresh, young, and rejuvenated. Tannins are antioxidants that protect the skin from free radical damage. To use tea bags to get rid of panda eyes, steep two tea bags in hot water for one minute. Remove the tea bags and allow them to cool on a plate. You can also stick the tea bags in the fridge to keep them nice and cool. After the tea bags have cooled, apply each one on the eyes. Leave them on for five minutes.

Lemon Juice

For extremely dark under eyes that do not fade away at all, use lemon juice. Lemon juice is high in fruit acids and vitamin C that will lighten the skin and minimize hyperpigmentation. Saturate a cotton ball with lemon juice and apply under the eyes carefully. You don’t want the juice ending up in the eyes! Leave the juice on for 10 minutes before rinsing. Do this once every two weeks until dark under eyes fade.

Cucumber

Anything cool against the eyes will reduce puffiness. Cucumbers contain cooling ingredients that soothe dry skin and reduce pigmentation. This veggie is also loaded with mild astringent agents and skin lightening compounds that will fade dark under eyes! Just slice a fresh cucumber, stick the slices in the fridge for an hour and apply over the eyes. Leave the cucumber slices on for 10 minutes and you are done. You can also use chilled potato or even a spoon as a substitute for cucumber.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is loaded with antioxidants that will lighten the under eyes. This oil also hydrates deeply to refresh the skin. Just dab a small amount of coconut oil under the eyes and massage it in gently. Do this once daily for best results!

A Good Concealer

If your under eyes are very persistent, dab a little concealer to lighten the area temporarily. This method may not provide long-term effects but it works when you need to look your best for special events. You can boost the coverage of your concealer by color correcting the darkness first. Use a salmon or peach colored concealer and layer another concealer that matches your skin tone. Blend well and then set with finishing powder.
