How to Lose Weight While Watching TV

It’s possible to painlessly torch calories even if you’re a complete couch potato. Anytime is the best time to work out, even when you’re lying on the couch catching your favorite TV series. In today’s post, we are dishing out expert tips on how you can blast calories while watching TV:

Skip Rope during Commercial Breaks

Pick a time when you’re not too focused on the show. This is usually on commercial breaks. So when the commercial is up, it’s your cue to whip out the jumping rope. Jump rope for two to five minutes. This burns 111 calories each. Now, skip rope every time the commercial is on, add up the amount of calories you burn and you’d be surprised at how far you can go!

Running Down the Stairs during a Commercial Break

If you have stairs, make good use of it during commercial breaks. Run up and down the stairs for two to five minutes. This burns off 42 calories each. Do this five to six times every night to tone the legs and blast belly fat.

Squat While Watching Your Favorite Soaps

When you get tired of laying on the couch, stand up and do squats. Squats will tone the thighs and legs. It will also strengthen the lower back and sculpt the glutes. It’s an excellent lower body workout. Start by standing in front of the couch. Now, go into a squat position. Make sure your butt is just above the seat cushion. Now hold this position for a minute. Repeat four times. You just burned 80 calories.

Lifting Soup Cans

Got soup cans in the kitchen? Bring those out and lift them while watching TV. Lifting soup cans will tone the triceps and biceps. It will also strengthen the grip. Do variations in lifting, including lifting it up above the head, sideways, etc. Do three sets of 10. You will burn off 17 to 20 calories.

 Couch Crunching

When you can’t be bothered to stand up to do squats, do crunches instead. While lying on your couch, scoot around until your back is supported by the couch. The legs should be resting on the seat back at a 90-degree angle to your waist. Now, curl your torso towards your legs in a classic crunch position. Hold for a few seconds to feel the tension. Now release and do some more. Do three sets of 15. Each set burns 30 to 40 calories.

Move Your TV near a Treadmill

Instead of sitting on the couch, why not watch TV while using the treadmill? It’s a great way to distract yourself from the pains of performing any physical activities. Move the treadmill near the TV or the TV near your home gym. Just start working on the treadmill while your favorite shows are on.

Pushups during Commercial Breaks

How many pushups can you do on a five minute commercial break? You’re about to find out! During commercial breaks, go down and perform as many pushups as you can. It might be hard at first but once you get used to it, pushup will be a piece of cake. Just don’t overdo it so you’re not too sore to exercise the next time your favorite soap is on.
