The face carries excess fat that’s more noticeable than other parts of the body. That’s because the face is the first thing people notice about you. And it’s hard to hide chubby cheeks or double chin in pictures too!
Unfortunately, getting rid of face fat is harder especially if you are genetically predisposed to having chubby cheeks or thick necks. But certain changes in your lifestyle may help prevent eliminate face fat for good. In today’s post, we are listing down tips and tricks to achieve a thinner, more sculpted face:
Cut Back on Salt
Salt promotes water retention. Eating salty foods will result in bloating or puffiness. Bloating is especially noticeable on areas like the face and stomach. So cut back on salt and drink plenty of water. Water will hydrate the skin and flush out toxins from your system. We recommend limiting your intake of processed foods like canned soup, certain sauces, or junk food.
Performing Facial Exercises
Facial exercises help tone the underlying muscles in the face. These exercises burn fat and slim down the face. Start by identifying the problem areas and focusing on these areas regularly. If you want to slim down the cheeks, smile your widest smile but resist by pushing the cheeks down with your fingers. If you have a thick neck, tilt your head back to look at the ceiling. Keep the lips relaxed and slowly move your lower lip as far as you can over the top lip. Hold this position for ten seconds, do ten reps. Finally, to eliminate double chin, tilt your head back. Pucker your lips as if to say “Ooo” and hold the position for 15 to 20 seconds. Do ten reps daily for best results.
Watch What You Eat
Apart from cutting back on salt, limit your caloric intake. Avoid fatty, greasy foods, sweet treats and high-calorie snacks. If you are overweight, learn how many calories you have to lose. To burn a pound, you have to expend 2,500 calories. If you limit your caloric intake to 300 and then burn off 200 from daily exercise, you can lose a pound within a week.
Also, watch out for “low-fat” or “low-calorie” prepackaged foods. These foods are loaded with preservatives and sodium! We recommend boosting your consumption of fresh fruits, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates to slim down. Get your protein and healthy fats from better sources like oily fish, nuts and poultry rather than red meat.
Work Out Regularly
Face exercises are not enough to keep the face slim. You have to exercise the whole body too! Full body exercises will help reduce both body and face fat. Physical fitness also builds lean muscles. If you want to achieve faster metabolic rate, you need to build leaner muscles. Unlike fat, leaner muscles require serious calorie burning to maintain!
Start gradually; a 30-minute exercise three times per week is enough to get you started. Once your body is stronger, then you can move on to a more challenging fitness regimen.
