Are you suffering from dull, dark and uneven skin? Hyperpigmentation is caused by sun exposure, stress, poor lifestyle choices and environmental pollution. Using chemical-based beauty products could also lead to dark, blotchy skin.

The good news is, you can restore the natural luminosity of your skin using ingredients you can find at your pantry. Enjoy clearer, flawless skin by using these skin whitening remedies:

Yogurt

Did you know yogurt is traditionally used to whiten and hydrate skin? Yogurt is a byproduct of milk. It contains lactic acids and nutrients that nourish the skin, restoring luminosity and vitality. The lactic acid in yogurt can even out the skin tone, bleach the skin and speed up cell renewal.

To use yogurt as a skin bleach, get plain yogurt. Simply apply the yogurt on freshly cleansed skin and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with tepid water. Do this treatment once daily until you see an improvement in your complexion. To boost its whitening properties, you can mix yogurt with organic honey.

Orange

Orange is packed with vitamin C, a natural skin whitener. The citric acid in oranges can also lighten the skin tone and restore glow! To use orange as a skin whitener, you can either eat oranges or get the juice. Apply the juice directly on freshly cleansed skin and leave on for at least 15 minutes. Do this thrice per week until the skin starts evening out. You can also mix orange juice with a pinch of turmeric powder to purge the pores, minimize inflammation and, of course, whiten the skin.

Organic Honey

Honey deeply hydrates and nourishes dull, flaky skin. It can also bleach the skin, minimizing age spots and hyperpigmentation. Honey also contains antibacterial properties, which can fade acne spots, freckles and minimize breakouts.

To use honey as a skin bleach, apply organic honey on the skin. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes before rinsing with tepid water. You can also combine honey and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply the mixture on the face and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse very well then follow up with a moisturizer.

Lemon

Lemon is one of the best skin whiteners! It works better than most beauty products too. Lemon extract contains high levels of vitamin C and citric acid. Vitamin C promotes cell growth while citric acid melts dead skin cells, revealing younger, whiter skin. These compounds can also refine the skin texture and boost vitality.

To use lemon extract to whiten the skin, dip a cotton ball in freshly squeezed lemon juice. Apply on the face and leave it on for 10 minutes. You might feel slight tingling after applying the juice on your face. Rinse with tepid water. Do this thrice per week for best results.

Because lemon extract is a potent skin whitener, it can make the skin more sensitive to the sun. As such, always follow up with a good sunblock if you are heading out.

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera gel is a gentle, all-natural skin whitener. It will banish acne spots, pimple scars and improves skin texture. It will shrink pores, minimize hyperpigmentation and even out the complexion. Best of all, aloe vera gel promotes the regeneration of new skin cells while rebuilding damaged skin tissues.

Ideally, you want to use fresh aloe vera gel. You can get this by scraping out the clear gel from an aloe vera plant. Just apply the gel on the skin and leave on for at least 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Do this once every week for beautifully clear and rosy skin.
