Weight loss hypnosis is an alternative treatment that promises to trigger fast, effective weight loss. While some people swear by this method, others remain a skeptic. According to Mayo Clinic, weight loss hypnosis can help dieters lose a maximum of six pounds. But there is more to the method than simply slipping into hypnosis to suppress the appetite. And if you’re wondering about the effectiveness of weight loss hypnosis, it’s important to gather as much information as you can about the procedure.

In today’s post, we are listing down all the important things you have to consider before choosing this weight loss method:

Manipulating a Suggestive Mind

Weight loss hypnosis is clearly not for everyone. Some people are harder to hypnotize than others. If deep down inside, you feel that the treatment won’t work for you, it probably won’t. Unlike invasive surgery, hypnosis involves manipulating the subconscious. And to do that, you must have an open, suggestive mind. If you don’t, there is no way for a practitioner to hypnotize you completely.

Of course, the effectiveness of weight loss hypnosis will also depend on the ability of the hypnotist. But ultimately, if you can’t be hypnotized, not even the most skilled hypnotist can unlock your subconscious. If say, you doubt your mind’s suggestiveness, try being hypnotized for something minor. At that point, you will get an idea how open your mind is as far as being hypnotized goes.

It’s not a Long-Term Solution

If say, your mind is completely open to the idea of being hypnotized and you’ve gone through the whole thing with positive results, hypnosis is still not a long-term solution to keeping the pounds off. You’ll still work extra hard to maintain your figure despite getting a positive result from weight loss hypnosis. That includes getting regular exercise coupled with a balanced diet. You’ll still need to watch your portions or count calories to make sure you don’t go overboard. If you stop all these measures, you will gain all the weight you lost from the procedure. That’s because hypnosis won’t make you stop overeating nor will it make cravings go away. You’re still expected to make better lifestyle choices to achieve your weight loss goals.

It’s not a One-Off Thing

Choosing this weight loss method means committing to a long-term partnership with your hypnotist. Even if you’ve successfully lost weight from weight loss hypnosis, you’ll still go through several sessions to maintain or improve your weight loss potentials. Unfortunately, there are others who think that weight loss hypnosis is everything. Dieters feel that this method may help cure them of their weight loss issues. It won’t.

Hypnosis works to reinforce a person’s commitment in losing weight; it won’t magically make a patient lose weight within one session. You’ll have to go through several sessions with the hypnotist to achieve the desired result especially if your bad eating habits have been deeply rooted in your psyche for decades. And even if you’ve finally reached a point wherein you’re getting great results, you’ll still need to see your hypnotist regularly to make sure everything is in order.
