Is Milk Dangerous? The Risks of Consuming Dairy Products

Of all dairy products, milk is the most popular. It’s a staple in most households. Even the majority of health experts recommend drinking milk regularly because it’s a part of a healthy diet. But a growing number of health experts are pointing to the contrary.

One study found that consumption of milk could actually increase fractures in women and decrease life expectancy in both men and women. Several studies found that the composition of modern milk is completely different from the milk sold in the market decades ago because the former goes through extreme processes.

The Hidden Dangers of Milk Consumption

Because dairy products, particularly milk, go through various stages of pasteurization, it does not retain most of its nutrients. Studies show that modern milk is teeming with hazardous levels of antibiotics, hormones, and genetically modified ingredients that it presents a lot of health dangers:


Certain hormones are used to make the cows produce more milk. These hormones include pituitary, steroid, hypothalamic, and thyroid hormones. Growth inhibitors like MDGI and MAF are also injected to the animals.

Most of these hormones are meant to make the cows stressed out. When the cows are stressed out, they produce more milk. Various gastrointestinal peptides are also added to the cocktail of chemicals to facilitate nerve and epidermal growth factors. Some studies also found that cows are injected with rBGH or Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone. This is a genetically engineered hormone meant to increase milk production. rBGH is linked to colon, prostate, and breast cancer.

Bacterial Growth

Milk contains pus, a yellow or whitish-yellow liquid formed during an infection. It’s comprised of dead white blood cells. Infected cows tend to produce milk tainted with pus. Infected udders known as mastitis cause higher than average amount of pus in milk.

In fact, there are 322 million of cell counts of pus in every glass of milk on average. This is above the human limit for pus intake. Studies show that pus-tainted milk promotes the proliferation of paratuberculosis bacteria. It also increases the risk of Crohn’s disease.

Cow Blood Cell

Here’s something that most dairy companies won’t tell you: store-bought milk contains cow blood. Worse, the USDA knows and allows it. In fact, the USDA allows up to 1.5 million white blood cells per milliliter of store-bought cow’s milk. You are literally drinking cow’s blood with every sip of your favorite milk.


Cows are continuously injected with antibiotics to keep them resistant from diseases and infections. This is a common practice that’s perfectly legal. Unfortunately, traces of the antibiotics end up on the milk we drink. In fact, a glass of milk from any store-bought milk brand yields no less than 81 drugs. 38% of milk in the US is contaminated with sulfa drugs or other antibiotics. An FDA study also found that over half of all milk products are tainted with pharmaceutical traces, but the government has done nothing to control the practice.

How to Avoid the Dangers of Cow’s Milk

Find milk alternatives

The good news is, there are lots of milk alternatives you can buy on the market. We recommend taking rice, almond or raw goat’s milk to avoid the dangers of cow’s milk.

Organic Milk

If you must have your cow’s milk, make sure you get it from in its organic raw version. Raw milk is usually harvested from non-genetically modified, free-range and grass-fed cows. The same thing goes for other dairy products like cheese and yogurt. Get it in organic, raw form.
