This causes blood pressure and blood sugar level to shoot up and drop down sporadically. A Japanese experiment also saw similar results in lab mice fed just once daily.

Weakens the Immune System

A research published on “The Journal of Inflammation,” found that this diet program could weaken the immune system, particularly among healthy middle-aged dieters. A weak immune system makes the body vulnerable to all kinds of ailments, including respiratory disorders and infections.

Researchers tracked two groups of middle-aged people with no health problems. One group was given three meals per day. The second group was given one meal per day, but the calories are equivalent to that of  three meals. After the experiment, the participants who engaged in the one-meal-per-day diet became more susceptible to various diseases.
