Blood types and the food you need to eat

Here are the recommended foods according to the blood type in D’Adamo’s book.

Type O

If your blood is type O then you need a high-protein diet. It should be heavy on lean meat, poultry, fish and vegetables. Light grains like beans are also recommended as well as dairy. He also recommends that people with type O blood group should taking in supplements can help with tummy aches as well as other issues that people in this blood group tend to have.

Type A

For people with type A blood type, meat-free diet is recommended. It is recommended that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables as well as beans and legumes are important part of the Type A’s diet. Whole grains are also recommended. Since people with Type A blood have sensitive immune systems, it is important to remember that eating organic and fresh foods can strengthen the immune system.

Type B

People who belong to the Type B groups, eating green vegetables, certain types of meat, low-fat dairy and eggs should be a part of their meals. Avoid eating buckwheat, lentils, peanuts, tomatoes, corn and sesame seeds as they can cause problems to people in this blood group. Chicken may also be a problem to some as they can develop certain allergies to it.

Type AB

If you belong in this blood group then you should avoid eating food like tofu, seaweed, dairy and even green vegetables. Since it is believed that people with type AB blood have low stomach acid, they have difficulty in digesting. It is also important that people with AB blood to avoid caffeine, alcohol and processed meats that has been smoked or cured.

So if you don’t know your blood type yet, get it tested. Ask your physician about this kind of diet as well, this way you can determine if you need to follow the diet or not.
