Whether it’s a hot date or a quick lunch with the girls, you want to bring your best foot forward. And that means looking good and feeling good. Unfortunately, the average woman takes at least an hour to get ready. And if you’re one of them, you know primping requires a certain level of skill and precision.
However, it’s quite possible to look your best in 30 minutes flat. If you’re on a rush and you want to look good without putting too much effort, consider these tips:
Picking the Right Clothes
One of the most time-consuming parts of dressing up is choosing the right clothes. Don’t waste time searching blindly for a top when you have no idea where it ended up in the first place. We recommend going for what works. Every woman (and man) has a fool-proof outfit that works for any occasions: dates, classes, brunch, etc.
If you’re going for a date, you can’t go wrong with a little black dress (LBD). If you think that’s too basic, dress up the LBD with fabulous accessories. For classes, you can’t beat a white tee, blue jeans and ballet flats combo. Add sunnies, and dainty necklace or earrings for the classic, off-duty look. This outfit will go well for a quick bite with friends too! You can also switch to strappy heels to look instantly polished.
Doing Your Hair and Makeup
When you have 30 minutes to primp, there is no room for a kitty flick! Keep the makeup minimal. Go for makeup that does not take work. Don’t spend an hour blending and adding ten layers of eye shadows! Start by grooming the brows. The brows frame the face. A groomed set of brows is all you need to look polished.
Use a brow pencil to fill in sparse spaces then finish up with a lick of brow gel. You will benefit from multipurpose products at this point. Apply a hydrating moisturizer/sunscreen and primer. Let the products sink in completely before patting powder foundation. Powder foundation applies faster than liquid and cream foundation. It requires very little work. Just focus on parts of the face where you oil up quickly.
To bring color back to the face, get a lip and cheek tint, dot the product on the apples of the cheeks and the lips. Blend, blend, blend! Curl the lashes and finish off with lots of mascara. If you have five seconds to spare, get a fluffy blending brush and apply a shimmery champagne eyeshadow on those peepers. This summer-worthy color will open up the eyes!
If you don’t have time to wash your hair, use a dry shampoo instead. A dry shampoo will eliminate oil and gunk in the hair within seconds. Then, brush your hair. If your hair tends to get unruly, apply a thin layer of anti-frizz serum. If you have naturally curly hair, don’t brush your hair. Instead, let the natural curls develop. Just bring a stylish clip or hair elastic when things get out of control later in the day.
Prepping Your Things
Create a mental list of all the items you need so you don’t forget important things when you head out, like your wallet! Before rushing out, mentally tick off the items from your list: wallet, CC, keys, cell phone, and makeup bag. If you’re a student, add books, term paper, etc. Go for items that you feel naked without.
