Thanks to technological advancements in plastic surgery, cosmetic procedures are not only safer, they also require shorter recovery time. In fact, some cosmetic treatments can be done during your lunch hour and require zero downtime. In today’s post, we are listing down some of the most popular cosmetic procedures:

Body Sculpting

Body sculpting aims to provide a sexier, more flattering silhouette. The procedure requires the removal of fat pockets that do not conform to the ideal body image. Body sculpting procedure starts by sucking out fat from problematic areas such as the waist, the thighs, etc. A surgeon will make a small incision on the skin. Then, a liposuction needle is inserted into the skin to remove fat. The whole procedure takes a few hours and recovery time is as short as four days.

Eyelid Surgery

Also known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery is done by removing the excess fat around the eyelids and toning the skin to prevent sagginess. This surgery is extremely popular among Asians with monolids. After the swelling has gone down, the patient will achieve a more western-looking set of peepers. Although eyelid surgery helps reshape the eyes, it will not remove fine lines or wrinkles.

Breast Enhancement

Breast enhancement is the most popular cosmetic surgery in the US. Usually, the procedure is done by sliding saline-filled bags under or over the chest muscles. Sliding the saline-filled bags under the chest muscle is more painful and requires longer recovery period compared to simply sliding the bags into the breast tissues. However, the results are more natural looking.

Rhinoplasty

A nose job requires reshaping the nose to flatter the entire face. Usually, this is done by removing the skin and adjusting the nasal bone and cartilage. After the operation, the face becomes bruised and swollen. The swelling should go down within weeks of the procedure. Once the swelling has gone down, you can return to your normal routine.

A newer, less invasive version of a nose job is called liquid Rhinoplasty. The procedure is done by injecting dermal fillers into the nose to achieve the ideal shape. The results are temporary, but liquid Rhinoplasty is less expensive than a nose job.

Jawline Contouring

A weak jaw can affect the symmetry of the face. A jawline contour is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that requires the injection of long-acting fillers to sculpt and shape the jaw. This procedure is usually done to complement other facial surgeries.

Facelift

A surgeon will make incisions on the face and stretch the skin upwards to the scalp. Then, excess skin is removed and the rest of the skin is stitched further into the scalp.  The result is a wrinkle-free face. A facelift will cause slight bruising and swelling as well as numbness that could last for weeks.

Botox Injection

A shot of botulinum toxin is injected into the frown lines and wrinkles to paralyze the muscles underneath. When the muscles are paralyzed, the skin takes on a smoother texture. This non-invasive procedure only takes a couple of minutes. There will be slight swelling and numbness to the affected area. The effects of Botox last about three to four months. The only downside to this treatment is that you cannot move certain parts of your face.
