Although men’s and women’s perfume differ greatly, they contain cocktails of notes that give each product a distinct fragrance. And sometimes, these notes are bordering on bizarre! If you’re tired of wearing the same old scent and you want to mix it up, consider our list of men’s and women’s perfume with very unusual mix of notes:

Singed Rubber and Black Tea

Bvlgari Black is a unisex perfume with distinct smokiness. The top notes are slightly sweet but as you wear it, it develops into a sexy, smoky scent. That’s because it’s formulated with black tea and singed rubber. That’s right, slightly burned rubber! What’s so great about Bvlgari Black is the balanced notes, it’s not your typical unisex perfume. It’s not overly masculine nor feminine.

Coffee and Lavender

Bond No.9 New Haarlem is another exceptional men’s perfume with an unusual mix of lavender and coffee. In aromatherapy, lavender induces sleep and relaxes the mind, a total opposite of coffee. Coffee invigorates the body and promotes mental alertness. But paired together, they make an unusually floral perfume that’s distinctive and decidedly masculine. The coffee notes won’t hit the nose at first sniff though. You have to wait until the fragrance develops to get a hint of this familiar scent!

Tar and Coffee

Who knew tar and coffee makes a distinct scent? A*Men Pure Coffee Thierry Mugler offers a bevy of edgy notes including liquor, malt, and yes, tar and coffee. The result is a very luxurious fragrance that’s surprisingly calming. The scent develops into a smooth, rich fragrance that’s wearable and unique.

Watermelon and Beeswax

D’Orsay Tilleul offers a beautiful medley of unusual top and medium notes, including beeswax and watermelon. This is an excellent daytime summer scent. It features a zingy top note of lime blossoms, lemon leaves, beeswax and fresh cut hay then enveloped with watermelon and acacia wood. Although considered as a unisex fragrance, this is more of a woman’s scent. However, it’s neither too floral nor too fruity.

Saltwater and Sand

If you love aqua scents with a twist, then the invigorating fragrance of Montale Sandflowers will complement your taste. The cologne has a briny scent that mimics the smell of ocean breeze punctuated by the smell of damp sand!

The unusual union of saltwater and damp sand makes for a contemplative scent. The fragrance is not overpowering nor light. It might be a little too intimidating for most people, but the scent is wearable.

Cannabis and Chocolate

The Cannabis Santal Eau de Parfum will give you a serious case of the munchies with its food-based top and middle notes. Housed in an artisanal bottle, the perfume is comprised of exotic citrus, warm chocolate, and vanilla musk. The scent finishes with the “raw sensuality” of cannabis. The cannabis in Cannabis Santal Eau de Parfum gives it a woodsy, musky scent. This perfume is not as wearable as other fragrances on the list. It’s musky, woodsy and spicy. It’s best worn at night by a man who wants to make a lasting impression.
