It’s hard to look your best when your hair is fried, dry and dull. But before you grab a thick conditioner or shampoo, consider using all-natural remedies. You can create your own hair conditioner using kitchen staples and save a lot of money! In today’s post, we are listing down unusual ways to bring life back to dry, damaged tresses:
Who knew butter can bring back shine to fried, frizzy hair? Butter is loaded with beneficial fats that strengthen hair strands and bring back the hair’s healthy shine. To use butter as a hair mask, get a stick of butter. Slice it up, warm a couple of slices with your hand and apply directly on the length of your hair. Get a shower cap and cover the hair. Leave the hair mask on for at least 20 minutes. To remove the butter, shampoo as usual then rinse with tepid water.
Green tea will restore the hair’s natural shine. It also works to remove buildup and enhance color in color-treated hair! However, certain types of teas work best to specific hair color. For instance, chamomile tea is best for blondes while black tea is excellent for brunettes and redheads.
To use green tea as an invigorating hair rinse, simply steep three bags of tea in a pitcher of hot water. Let the liquid steep until room temperature. Then, rinse the hair out after shampooing. For best results, do not rinse with water after.
Is your hair prone to breakage? Are you dealing with frizzy, damaged hair full of split ends? All you need is an egg to restore life back to dry tresses! Eggs contain protein that strengthens and repairs damaged hair. They are also packed with essential nutrients that nourish dry hair!
To use eggs as a shampoo, just beat one egg in a small bowl. Apply the liquid directly on your hair by sections. Wear a shower cap and leave on for at least 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water to get the egg out.
Another variation is to add about half a cup of full-fat yogurt with 2 beaten eggs and 2 tablespoons of almond oil. Stir the ingredients thoroughly and apply on the hair. Massage the mixture before leaving it on for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse with lukewarm water after.
Because it’s made with eggs, mayonnaise make a great hair conditioner too! It can restore shine and keep the tresses soft, strong and healthy.
To use mayonnaise as a hair conditioner, massage one half cups of mayo into dry hair and scalp. Wear a shower cap and leave the mayo on for at least 30 minutes. Rinse with a hydrating shampoo and tepid water to remove mayonnaise then air dry the hair.
Gelatin is a rich source of protein. It works as a strengthening treatment for extremely damaged, frizzy hair! Gelatin will boost moisture and softness to dry hair. It also stimulates hair growth, preventing balding.
To use gelatin as a hair treatment, combine a tablespoon of gelatin with a cup of warm water. Stir the mixture until the gelatin is dissolved. Add a tablespoon of vinegar and 5 drops of lemon, rosemary or lavender essential oil. Mix well then apply on dry hair and scalp. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
